Day Care Centres

  • Under Vatsalyapurna Self-Employment Services Co-op. Society By the Day Care Center Conductors.

Vatsalyapurna is a chain of low cost Day Care Centers for children of poor working women. The security of toddlers from slums whose mothers go out to earn is the goal behind running these centers.

    Need For Day Care Centers

Annapurna gives micro loans to women and men. ( Majority of members are women )

    The members live in slums.

The women go out to work leaving the children at home.

The children are unattended/ unsafe or attended to by an elder sibling, mostly a girl.

The education of the eldest girl child suffers.

The unattended children pick up wrong habits and grow up to be bad citizens.

The future of our slum children is in danger due to neglect.

Annapurna Pariwar is a group of NGOs working since 1993 in Mumbai and Pune across 1,650 Slums. Its main aim is to empower poor women and their families for complete family development in terms of finance, education, health, old age pension etc. Annapurna created a safety net around poor families in these 1,650 slums with services like Micro Finance, Micro Insurance, Child Development Program and Adharpurna.

It has registered a Vatsalyapurna Swayamrojgar Seva Co-op. Society under the Annapurna Pariwar group.

Vatsalyapurna Swayamrojgar Seva Coop Society is for the Child Development of the children of poor, micro borrowers of Annapurna Mahila Multi State Co-op Credit Society. These are poor enterprising women in the slums who sell their labour and goods to make a living.

Annapurna Day Care Centers are run for looking after the children of age 1 to 6 years. These are children of single mothers or poor working couples. The parents can work longer, harder and earn a better living to secure a better future for their children, if the children are safe while they are away at work. The children learn to socialize a lot more in our Day Care centers.

The children are imparted with pre-school education in terms of their language, motor skills and scholastic development in Annapurna Day Care Centers.

Annapurna Pariwar runs 12 Day Care Centers in the slums of Pune and Mumbai. Each Day Care Centre has 40 children each. Each Day Care Centre is managed by two well-trained women. They look after the children for 26 days in a month for 9 hours daily. The fees charged are Rs.800/- per child per month.
