According to UNICEF, around 12.6 million children are today employed in hazardous occupations and India has the largest number of child labourers under 14 years of age.  Although poverty is often cited as the cause underlying child labour, other factors such as discrimination, social exclusion, as well as the lack of quality education or existing parents’ attitudes and perceptions about child labour and the role and value of education also need to be considered.

India is considered to be a young nation because we have such a huge youth population, called Human Resource which is becoming scarce in developed nations. But without proper education, inculcation of good habits and training in skills this youth power cannot be productive.

Annapurna Pariwar runs a special program for giving educational scholarships to deserving children of single mothers – where the school drop-out rate is estimated to be the maximum.

We run Vidyapurna program for educational sponsorship of slum children whose mothers are our members and single . We sponsor these children from 1st std. till 12th std.
